PRAXIS CENTER FOR POLICY STUDIES is the first non-profit public policy think thank in Estonia, Tallinn. The mission is to improve public policy in Estonia by identifying crucial public policy problems in society, carrying out innovative and quality policy analysis and research, building policy making capacity within public sector institutions, fostering public policy debate and civic participation. PRAXIS is involved in several projects funded by framework programmes. PRAXIS focuses primarily on social and economic research; main policy areas include labour and social policy, innovation policy, education policy, health policy. PRAXIS is working closely with top-level decision-makers from parliament and government and is recognized as strong player and partner in the policy making process in Estonia.
PRAXIS was established in June 2000, with the support of the American philanthropist George Soros. PRAXIS has also been engaged in smaller research projects in other fields (e.g. the governance, evaluation of administrative burden, housing policy etc.).
