Finding the Money

Gábor Péteri

Finding the Money focuses on those areas of government most exposed to grand or petty corruption: budgeting, tax administration, public procurement, and management of government assets. The eight chapters collected in this volume are based on the assumption that corruption has systemic causes. By improving social accountability mechanisms and by increasing the institutional and human capacities of government, malfunctioning states and municipalities can be transformed.

Follow the Money

Jim Shultz

Follow the Money is the first in a series of guides to be published by the Open Society Institute’s Revenue Watch program targeting different audiences - nongovernmental organizations, journalists, investors, and policymakers - in an effort to help these stakeholders promote government transparency and accountability. Ultimately, by detailing and disseminating monitoring information and strategies, Follow the Money aims to help lift the “resource curse” that impedes the development of many impoverished countries.
